Vacuum Heat Treated Full Tang Shinken (真剣) | Veiled Aegis Katana: TangGu (湯谷) CPM-3V Maru Blade (丸造) + TangGu (湯谷) Genkō Koshirae (玄鋼拵)
This katana is mounted in an uchigatana-style koshirae (打刀拵) and emphasizes restrained craftsmanship and functional clarity. The blade is produced in Maru-zukuri (丸造) monosteel construction from CPM-3V high-performance powder steel, vacuum heat treated to achieve a controlled balance of hardness and exceptional toughness. As a modern monosteel blade, it displays no visible hada (鍛肌なし). The blade features a hand-polished decorative Tōran-ba hamon, created through traditional polishing techniques for visual reference and classical aesthetics. The saya (鞘) is finished in Kanshitsu Black Ishime lacquer (乾漆黒石目塗), presenting a textured, stone-like surface with a subdued, understated appearance. The koiguchi, kurigata, and kojiri are reinforced with water buffalo horn. A Japanese-made sageo, available in multiple color options, completes the scabbard. The tsuka (柄) is wrapped in black ito over genuine ray skin in an aged off-white tone, reinforced throughout with hishigami (菱紙) for structural consistency. The menuki (目貫) are crafted from yellow brass, formed in a bamboo-style profile. The fuchi and kashira (縁頭) are blackened brass fittings with a uniform dark finish. The tsuba (鍔) is a custom-profile openwork iron guard, finished with a black sandblasted surface treatment, maintaining a subdued, non-reflective appearance consistent with the overall mounting philosophy.

A Japanese sword is a single-edged curved blade, designed specifically for cutting (slashing) and is not suitable for chopping hard objects. Our sharpened swords are only suitable for cutting practice on tatami mats (straw mat material). Handle the blade with care and maintain a sense of respect for it. Striking at an incorrect angle, hitting excessively hard targets, or applying too much force may cause the blade to bend, chip, or break. The user assumes all risks and should purchase with caution, ensuring proper use in a safe environment to prevent damage or accidents. Please search for relevant information to learn more about the associated risks.
A Japanese sword should always be kept in its scabbard (Saya) and stored horizontally on a dedicated sword rack, cabinet, or a locked display case. Avoid placing it casually on a table or the floor, and do not allow children or inexperienced individuals to handle the sword. Regularly check the sword and scabbard for moisture and dryness, and apply a light layer of oil (such as mineral oil) on the blade as needed to prevent rust.
