This tsuba is crafted from iron and finished with a traditional Yaki-sabi (blackened) treatment, giving the surface a deep, refined hue. Its face is fully carved with surging waves, the main contours executed in Katakiribori—single-sided chisel cuts that create bold, light-catching lines—while the finer details of the crests and swirling currents are rendered in Kebori for intricate texture and movement.

Delicate gold-lacquer dot accents are scattered among the waves, evoking the glint of spray in moonlight or stars reflecting upon the night sea.
