Chōkinshi – Yixin (彫金師・一心)

Yixin is a talented young chōkinshi (metal engraver), dedicated to the art of traditional hand engraving. He specializes in techniques such as katakiribori and kebori, both of which require exceptional precision and refined artistic sensitivity.

His engravings span a wide range of nature-inspired motifs, including animals, plants, and classical themes of flowers, birds, wind, and moon. Popular designs such as waves, cherry blossoms, and dragons are especially favored by Japanese sword collectors.

Known for his meticulous attention to fine detail, Yixin’s engraved tsuba are highly sought after, often accompanied by a considerable waiting time. However, as many collectors appreciate, true craftsmanship is always worth the wait.
